Welcome to our 54th Season at the historic Woodminster Amphitheater in Oakland's Joaquin Miller Park!
We are pleased to continue to bring all genres of musical theater to this beautiful outdoor stage for people of all ages to enjoy. This season we are producing three shows that will be great for all ages: An American in Paris, On Your Feet!, and Something Rotten.
An American in Paris | July 10-19
Set in the French capital in the wake of World War II, AN AMERICAN IN PARIS tells the romantic story of a young American soldier, a beautiful French girl, and an indomitable European city – each yearning for a new beginning in the aftermath of international conflict. Inspired by the Academy-Award winning 1951 film, the new stage musical features a ravishing score by George and Ira Gershwin and a fresh, sophisticated book by Tony nominee and Pulitzer Prize finalist Craig Lucas. The show’s timeless musical numbers include “I Got Rhythm,” “‘S Wonderful,” “But Not For Me,” “The Man I Love,” “Shall We Dance?” and “(I’ll Build A) Stairway To Paradise.”
On Your Feet! | August 7-16
On Your Feet! is the story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan, two people who believed in their talent, their music and each other, and became an international sensation. Universally crowd-pleasing and uplifting, On Your Feet! is a celebration of greatest hits that will have audiences dancing in the aisles. Featuring “Rhythm Is Gonna Get You,” “1-2-3,” “Live For Loving You,” “Conga,” and many more, On Your Feet! is a portrait of a legendary artist that reveals fierce determination and visionary creativity matched with the exhilarating energy of the Miami Sound Machine.
Something Rotten | September 4-13
Created by Grammy Award-winning songwriter Wayne Kirkpatrick, and successful screenwriters Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell, Something Rotten was lauded by audience members and critics alike, receiving several Best Musical nominations and hailed by Time Out New York as "the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years". Something Rotten features large song and dance numbers, and a wacky cast of over-the-top characters, each given his or her own special moment in the show to shine.
