Some of the best weather in the Bay Area can be found in the Oakland Hills, making it an ideal setting for outdoor musical theatre in the summer months. But remember that it can get chilly in the evenings, and sometimes foggy or breezy, so dress warmly or bring a jacket and blankets. Also, wear shoes that are appropriate for walking on dirt paths from the parking lot and on stairs within the amphitheater.
Red Flag Days
The National Weather Service issues Red Flag Warnings & Fire Weather Watches to alert fire departments of the onset, or possible onset, of critical weather and dry conditions that could lead to rapid or dramatic increases in wildfire activity. A Red Flag Warning is issued for weather events which may result in extreme fire behavior that will occur within 24 hours. A Red Flag Warning is the highest alert. During these times extreme caution is urged by all residents, because a simple spark can cause a major wildfire.
On performance nights where a Red Flag Warning is issued, we will still be open and ready to perform. Only people attending a previously scheduled event at the amphitheater or community center may enter the park. Those people may enter to attend the event, but they may not engage in other outdoor activities in the park. The trails, barbecue pits, and other park facilities and locations are closed.
